Good Things

Inspired by 18th century harvest bowls, shown at ZEST’s ‘Light Work’ exhibition.

For ZEST’s Light Work exhibition, I exhibited a layered wooden sculpture inspired by decorative ceramic bowls which were used during the harvest season in 18th-century England. Feasts were held if it was a good harvest, with a loaf of bread being baked using that season’s first grain, and shared among the community.

A successful harvest was a sign of good things to come, which represented how I felt at having recently joined the art collective.
