The Plant Club
Interviews with some of my favourite illustrators and graphic designers, showcased through a fictional newspaper.
Interview with
Joy Li
Graphic Designer, Visual Creative & Pessimist
“I am a product of influence of other artists that have come before”
Joy is a visual communications student from Sydney, Australia. Her work ranges from data visualisation to branding start-ups; her work is well-made and beautifully designed. I discovered Joy’s work through Behance, Adobe’s portfolio platform, and was immediately interested in her self-branding project.
Often, for a graphic designer, self-branding can be the hardest task of all. It’s a skill when you’re able to analyse a client and understand what they’re offering. To know what kind of font and logo style they need to represent them best is something you learn and develop as you move through your practice. But being able to analyse yourself and try to look at your work from an outsider’s perspective can be hard. Joy, however, in our opinion, mastered this task with seemingly effortless ease.
